2 in every 9 Americans diagnosed with arthritis

According to statistics announced on Thursday by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2 in every 9 Americans has been diagnosed with arthritis.  There is a total of 49.9 million adults in the United States suffering from arthritis.  In addition, the center estimates that the number grows by about 1 million people a year.

The most common type of arthritis suffered from is knee osteoarthritis which can lead to disability, knee joint replacement and loss of earning capacity.  Approximately 42 percent of people suffering from arthritis say that it has limited their activities.  This is an estimated 21.1 million people.
